GMC requirements for Colleague and Patient Feedback
At Good Medical Practice Surveys, we use GMC certified colleague and patient questionnaires and produce high quality reports on the results, in keeping with GMC and NHS England guidelines. This gives doctors peace of mind that their feedback reports will satisfy the requirements for appraisals and revalidation.
The GMC requires all doctors to collect formal colleague and patient feedback within each 5 year revalidation period and that it should form part of the discussion at annual appraisals.
Both the GMC and NHS England guidelines on feedback state that feedback should be administered and interpreted independently through a survey company or other. If one uses GMC questionnaires, a minimum of 15 colleague and a minimum of 34 patient responses are required, in order for the results to be reliable.
